The only caveat is that you keep disk activity reasonable - de-fragmenting your hard disk during an image, or copying your DVD collection between two drives churning up gigabytes of data Most times software is backward compatible, not forward compatible. Naturally I lost all my data but even after the restore, Recuva was able to recoversomeof it.
