It seems to be quite a frequent issue with instaling linux on these laptops as the lenovo forums have a few threads with bios missing issues. Search msi.com for the exact model (if you can't find it, try to create an account and register your device via its serial number from inside the battery compartment). I wish I found it earlier after struggling for a few hours.
